An Post’s Ninth Definitive Stamp Series, A History of Ireland in 100 Objects, a selection, began life as an original series by Fintan O’Toole of The Irish Times. It features many of the objects from the fully illustrated hardback book of the series, A History of Ireland in 100 Objects published by the Royal Irish Academy. Many of the objects featured in the book and the Stamp Series issued by An Post are part of the National Museum of Ireland collection.

An Post produces stamps on behalf of the Irish Government. In addition to the Definitive Stamps Series, An Post produces a programme of special and commemorative stamps each year. The programme comprises of around 40 stamps and covers up to 20 different topics.

The Royal Irish Academy/Acadamh Ríoga na hÉireann champions research. It identifies and recognises Ireland’s world class researchers. It supports scholarship and promotes awareness of how science and the humanities enrich lives and benefit society.
